Check the shelf again

A recount changes the count, not the whole bridge.

When a few products need counting again, use Apply a physical recount. This dedicated importer updates their counted quantities while preserving the movements you already entered.

Two columns, one purpose

Use exactly sku and counted headers, in either order. Header case and surrounding spaces are ignored. Include one to 500 rows in a UTF-8 comma-separated file within 1 MB. Every code must match an existing worksheet product; matching ignores letter case and surrounding spaces. Duplicate or unknown codes reject the whole import.

Counts must be nonnegative, at most 100 million, with up to three decimal places. A blank is not zero. Extra columns are rejected so production or sales figures cannot silently be mistaken for this update.

Count without seeing expected quantities

Download blank recount template to get current product codes and empty count cells. It excludes expected stock, earlier counts and count context. Fill in physical quantities and keep the location, units and cutoff clear in your own counting instructions.

Templates are unavailable for product codes beginning like spreadsheet formulas (=, +, -, @), including leading whitespace. Those codes are not silently changed. Exact codes can still be entered in the recount text box; take care when using spreadsheets that interpret them as formulas.

Review every match

The preview lists each matched product’s old and new count, unchanged expected quantity, and old and new difference. It also shows the current count name, location, period and physical cutoff. Check that the recount belongs to that same context before applying.

Preserve the movements

Applying changes only counted quantities for matching products. Opening, made, restocked returns, sold, losses and signed adjustments are retained, as are products absent from the recount. Saved count copies remain unchanged. Context is retained; update it separately if the recount used a new cutoff.

The update happens in memory. Save or download a backup when ready. Any worksheet, context or recount-source change invalidates the previous preview. Cancelling keeps the worksheet unchanged.

Investigate the difference

A different count changes the arithmetic difference. It does not prove shrinkage, a missing sale or a production error, and it does not post an adjustment to another inventory system.
